T1s and Business T’s

The Connextion is now providing phone service in conjunction with certain business access lines, allowing small companies to save money by upgrading their Internet access.

This integrated access, which consists of the merging of voice and Internet over a T-1 line, is gaining momentum in the small-to-medium business market through a combination of DSL and phone lines. Small business T-1s provide reliable and affordable communication services that only large corporations could afford previously.

The end result is higher Internet speeds, lower phone costs and better overall communication efficiency, with many companies saving more than $100 for a month for better service. A Business T is a great solution if you have at least 6 phone lines and your phone and data bills reach over $300/month.

Data & Voice

VOIP is an acronym for “Voice Over Internet Protocol”.

VOIP uses your existing broadband internet connection (DSL, cable, satellite, etc) to move your voice phone traffic along the same line that your data uses.  If you have separate phone and data lines, this means you can eliminate the cost of the voice lines, and only have one bill to pay for both voice and data communications.  This has certain implications that you’ll need to consider in your analysis.  Bandwidth is one of them.  Bandwidth is the amount of data your Internet connection can handle at one time. B andwidth is usual described in terms of kilobits-per-second (Kbps), or for higher speeds, megabits-per-second (Mbps).  Next is latency, which is the amount of time it takes to get from one point on the Internet to another.

The major advantages to VOIP are plain: Eliminating an additional bill, with all the overhead and accounting that entails plus significant savings on your monthly bills.  In addition, you consolidate the number of vendors that you need to deal with.  Technology keeps improving all the time, and something like VOIP can be a real plus for your business and your customers.  If you take your time, research the options, and be honest about your needs it can generate significant savings.
