How to access the internet
remotely
When traveling or unable
to access your home computer, the need to check your email may arise. In
this case, there are several possible solutions.
First, you may use a laptop.
We can help you setup your program to check your email while away from your
home computer (just give us
a call at the number listed
below). If you are a long distance phone call from us, then you may still dial
into us from long distance, even though the phone company will apply long distance
charges to the phone call.
If you are traveling and using another computer,
or laptop, you can use http://webmail.connext.net to
check your email, provided that you can access the internet on that computer.
When traveling, many hotels offer free internet access or you can usually
find a cyber-cafe. Provided that you are able to access the internet, this
website
will prompt you for two items: your mail account-name/user-name and your
mail password. Upon entering these settings, you will be able to access (send,
reply
or read) your email using webmail. There is no software, and no settings
to remove from that machine.
When checking your email via webmail, the email
will be left on the server, so it will still be there for the next time
you wish
to check your email, be it
on webmail, or by other means. Unless you delete a message, it will still
be in your mailbox for the next time you wish to check email.
